James "Jim" M. Hubbard's Obituary
James M. (Jim) Hubbard of Dallas Texas passed away peacefully Wednesday evening May 18th at the age of 81. Jim was born on the 4th of July 1934 in DeQueen Arkansas. He graduated from DeQueen High School where he was Class President, Salutatorian and was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed reminding his family that he was also voted Best Dressed and Most Handsome by his classmates. He received a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arkansas and continued his studies at SMU. He was a member of the engineering honor society Alpha Pi Mu and a Charter Member of the Academy of Industrial Engineering. After a short stint at General Electric, he spent 31 years in a variety of management positions at Texas Instruments including President and General Manager of TI Asia and TI Europe. His career enabled him to live in a number of overseas locations including Tokyo, Japan, Nice, France, and Hong Kong. After retirement in 1990 he continued his daily jogging and became an avid golfer and loving grandfather to his two grandchildren. He enjoyed photography and spent many hours capturing and cataloging his life’s adventures with his camera. He and his wife were ardent travelers and ventured around the world for years enjoying numerous trips across North America, Europe, and Asia. His favorite vacations were when he was surrounded by his family on the Big Island of Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Gracie Hubbard, his brother Donald, and his son Randall. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Pat, his son and daughter-in-law Greg and Beth Hubbard, his daughter-in-law Vicky Hubbard and his two “angels” grandchildren Rachel and Bryce Hubbard, along with a number of nieces, nephews and family members. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church located at 503 N. Central Expy., Richardson, TX 75080 at 4:00 pm Monday May 23rd. Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for his quiet but sharp sense of humor and his deep sense of generosity and caring for those around him. He will be missed by his family and many friends around the world. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
