Perhaps those who knew James would not be surprised to know that he was a mentor to me when I worked with him at the SMU print shop from 1983 until the closing of our wonderful, old-world, printing facilities at SMU. I came in as a young graphic artist who had learned about printing in college, but it was James who taught me the real world of printing and how to design for the press. Always helpful, always gentle with instruction, I consider him to be one of my greatest teachers in work and in life. Have never forgotten him, and have been fortunate to have seen him a couple of times in the last 20 years or so since SMU. I rejoice at his going home to be with our Lord. My heart holds prayers of blessings for those James had to temporarily say so-long to. It will be but a blink of an eye before he turns around and sees his family once again. Looking forward to seeing James again.
