Mr. James Dale “Jim” Wingo, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2019, at his home in Richardson, Texas. He was born on July 3, 1933, to parents, J. Beyrl Wingo and Mildred Fowler in Sudan, TX, the eldest of 4 children. Jim will be sincerely missed by his family, his devoted friends and all the individuals who knew and loved him.He married Barbara Hook on October 5, 1957 in Muleshoe, TX. His occupation was a Computer Systems Analyst, and he also served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by spouse Barbara Wingo, Richardson, TX; and four sons James Wingo, Jr., Wichita Falls, TX; Timothy Wingo, Richardson, TX; David Wingo, Gunnison, CO; John Nathan Wingo, Allen, TX. He also has 7 grandchildren.Jim grew up on a Texas Panhandle farm and graduated from Muleshoe High School. He was drafted into the US Army, stationed in Germany from 1954-56 as a Spc-4, Radar Operator. After discharge, Jim and Barbara moved to Lubbock, TX, where he earned an engineering degree from Texas Tech. His skills brought him to Texas Instruments in Richardson, TX, as a computer programmer. In the early 70s, he went into banking as a Systems Analyst, retiring after nearly 30 years.Hobbies included rebuilding car motors, and later building personal computers. A lifelong radio enthusiast, he became licensed at the age of 83 as an Amateur Radio Operator, call sign KG5NSO. His favorite food was BBQ, pinto beans and cornbread, and anything chocolate. He served as a deacon at 1st Baptist Church downtown Dallas. He was a great dad that instilled Christian values in all 4 sons. His grandchildren adored him. He was known to be a genteel man and was also noted for his dry sense of humor. For decades, Jim enjoyed Thanksgivings with friends on their ranch in the Texas Hill Country, and loved summer vacations in Colorado.No services have been scheduled.
