Mama Jane was one of the most cheerful, upbeat, and encouraging people I have ever had the privilege to know. We met in 1971, when my soon to be husband brought me to meet her and Gene Mitchell. What a precious and laughter filled occasion this was. We adored one another from the first moment we met. Over the years she and Gene hosted Jordan and me and many, many other young people on many occasions, and I never eat pimiento cheese without remembering her delicious homemade version! I had no idea it could be made from scratch. She and her two beloved boys (plus Jordan) were a constant source of family strength in times of need. As people passed from this world, Mama Jane assured us of our Father's love and I know she is truly HOME now, too. He will say to her, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant!" You have the condolences of the entire Maxfield family.

Momma Jane Not just a wonderful mother in law , but a dear friend and example in my life. She could brighten my day with a call , encouraged me with Gods Word , and could always make me laugh! Jane and Betty were my other moms. I loved them at times more than my own. They would listen and not be judge mental, In my mind at least. Mom Jane had the most wonderful way of making you feel good about yourself. She was always a positive influence for me. Her love for the Lord was always evident. Whether it was Gene, One of her boys ,or the Grand daughters, or The Lord, she beamed when she spoke their names. My mom and dad, Ginger and Hap Weaver owned a place in New Mexico that they all loved to spend time in. Jane loved it there and they loved having her positive and radiant smile there too! Recently I was going through a bunch of pictures of mom's and ran across those with Jane. Wish I could put my hands on them to send them. Nelson as soon as I find them I will put them on Facebook for y'all ! My greatest assurance is that Gene, Jane, Ginger, Hap, Mary, Bernard, and Randy are all fellowshipping together around the Lord's table. Time is fleeting and but a moment for the Lord, Our greatest Hope is to be Face to Face with Him and those who have gone before us. He called Ginger in November and Jane in March, This has been a Blessed Season !!!!!!!!!! I can just picture mom and Mary Rodgers, standing there with hands on their hips, telling Janie " It's about time you got here' Nelson, girls, Betty, Kyle, and Becky know that I love you all and that if I can find a way to be in Dallas Saturday, I will. If not , I will be there in spirit and in Prayer ! Rejoice for She is Whole and enjoying the Life Eternal with her Lord and Savior , Jesus Christ. I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to the Mitchell/Davis family. I feel honored to have met Mama Jane forty six years ago. I remember her fondly as always being a very sweet and kind lady, always ready for us teens to hang out in her home. Thank you Lord for the opportunity to take care of this beautiful lady for a shot time. A couple of days before her transition, I was privileged to be with Ms Mitchell, when she told me to give her sometime to herself. Respectfully I left her alone and then in a low tone she said to me " I just said my prayers, did you say your prayers" then I said to her I will and started praying out loud. Got to also read the scriptures to her on one occasion. She was kind to me and i extend my sympathy to the family as well as celebrate her life as a christian and child of God. We have the victory through Jesus. 1 cor 15:55 "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" God bless…
