Jane Ballew Mitchell's Obituary
Jane Ballew Mitchell was born March 28th 1926 to Ed and Marie Ballew in Wichita Falls, Texas. The family later moved to Dallas, where Jane started school at James Steven Hogg Elementary School. She went on to attend Highland Park Jr. High, and High School where she graduated in the Class of 1943. After she completed 2 years of Hockaday Jr College, in Dallas, she went on to SMU. While attending SMU she became a Kappa Alpha Theta, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art. As a teenager living in University Park, Texas she attended a neighbor’s home Bible study, where she first came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. In 1949 she married and started a family in the Park Cities area of Dallas, raising two son’s Gary and Nelson Davis. Through the years she worked in the banking industry, was a PTA mother, often serving on volunteer fund raisers in the schools. She was Cub Scout Den Mother, and great home maker. Jane was hands on person with a can do attitude. In addition to God’s Word, she brought her son’s up teaching the life lesson of, “I can do anything if I put my mind to it”. She exemplified this when she learned to fly single engine aircraft as a young mother. In November of 1966 she married Gene Mitchell. The new couple bought a home, and moved her family to the Lake Highlands area of Dallas where she lived for almost 50 years. In Lake Highlands she made many life friends, and neighbors whom she has cherished through the years. While resting with the Lord, She is preceded in death by her husband Gene Mitchell and son Gary Davis. She leaves behind a Sister, Betty Webb, son Bruce Nelson Davis, Three grand-children, Sharon Davis, Christy Rios, Andrew Davis, and four great grand children; Ashley Rios, Austin Rios, Wyatt Davis, and Elly Davis. Through the years Jane found Wisdom and solace in her relationship with Christ. She made it a priority to lead her family in Christ’s teachings. She constantly reminded her family to seek the Bible in daily decisions, pray fervently, and make God number one in their lives. The visitation for Jane Mitchell will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, March 18, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Jane will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 3:30 PM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
