My parents were neighbors of Jan and her husband Dale for more than 30 years so our relationship goes back a long way. She looked out for my mom after my father passed, always being a sanctuary for my mom as she developed dementia and tried to run away from her caregivers. When my family moved into the house, we treasured her as a neighbor, looking out for each other's houses when the other traveled. She complimented my oldest as she started driving to UTD and encouraged my youngest as she practiced volleyball in the street. My wife and I miss her warmth in our exchanged greetings in retrieving mail and our shared gripes about the lawn guys starting before 7am. Most of all, we miss our friend and wish her well in her post life journey. The whole Oakridge neighborhood has suffered a great loss with her passing.
