Mrs. Janice Miller's Obituary
Janice Miller was born January 23, 1910 and passed away March 31, 2015 after recently celebrating her 105th birthday. Her birth place was Roellen, TN. She moved to Milan, TN at an early age where her father and grandfather were the local physicians. The family moved to Paris, TX in 1918 where she attended school through high school. T. Lee and Janice Miller met in 1928 and married November 3rd of that year in Dallas, TX. Lee was a Methodist minister and together they served many churches and districts in the Northeast Methodist Conference. She was his support as a wonderful minister’s wife drawing from her talent as a musician and sharing her love of God and great faith. Janice attended East Texas University and SMU where she majored in music. She taught piano to many children who she loved and enjoyed. As a member of PEO Chapter BC, CC Young Auxiliary, United Methodist Women and many volunteer organizations; Janice shared her experiences and love of life with many people. She gave unquestioning love to her surviving daughter, Janis Karanza and husband, Bill as well as her grandson, Jay Batcha and wife, Shawna and granddaughter, Laura Batcha and great grandchildren, Karuna, Carly, Violet, Thomas Lee, Noah, Sierra and Laiken Batcha and many nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. James Marion Simpson and Myrtle Blanch Ramer Simpson along with her beloved husband of 47 years Dr. T. Lee Miller. For the last 20 years Janice has resided on the CC Young Campus and has touched many lives including residents and staff with her outlook that “every day is the best day to live”. A memorial service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance for Janice Miller will be held at Highland Park UMC Cox Chapel on April 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to CC Young Benevolent Fund, United Methodist Women of HPUMC or any charity of your choosing. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to CC Yong Benevolent Fund, United Methodist Women of HPUMC or any charity of your choosing.
