My husband Glenn and I were very close friends with Riley and Janie. Glenn and Riley were friends from school and as adults we would get with Riley and Janie almost every Friday—either at our house or theirs. We took a lot of camping trips together and really enjoyed hiking trails and campfire suppers.
When our son Ross was born we named R & J as his caretakers if anything should happen to us.
One of my favorite memories is the night of Glenn’s and my 10th wedding anniversary. We asked R & J to come over and stay with Ross while we went out for a celebratory dinner.
When we got back, R&J were so disappointed because Ross had slept through the whole evening & they didn’t even get a chance to pick him up & play with him.
But as the years went by, there were many times we were all together and this friendship was a heartfelt gift for all of us.
Janie is like a sister to me and she will be sorely missed.
