Jay Gregg Wortham's Obituary
Jay Gregg Wortham of Dallas, TX, age 68, died on August 2, 2021.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School where he was active in band. Jay graduated from Texas A&M in Bryan, Texas with a major in biology. He later graduated from Baylor College of Medicine with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
Jay was employed by the United States Public Health Service as a dentist on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. He later was employed as a dentist in Dallas.
Jay enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and more recently scuba diving. As a child, he spent many of his summers in central Texas on his grandparent’s family farm on the Brazos River. After his public health service, he spent several months in Alaska fishing for salmon. While in Arizona, he studied Navajo culture and collected many handmade Navajo artifacts. Throughout his life, Jay was an avid reader about science.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregg and Louise Wortham. Jay is survived by his sister, Eva Lynn Birmingham (Joe) and nephews Mark (Jessica) and Jim Birmingham (Christine) and grand nephews and nieces, Bailey, Ruby, Brec, and Brody.
