Jerry Priscilla Davidson's Obituary
Jerry Priscilla Davidson
April 5, 1928 – December 1, 2020
Jerry Priscilla Davidson of Carrollton passed peacefully from this life into everlasting life with her Savior on Dec. 1, 2020. Her 92 years on this earth were filled with love and laughter and truly centered on her faith, her family, and her friends.
She was born Jerry Priscilla Willows on April 5, 1928, in Kirksville, Mo., where her maternal grandparents had a farm that provided the setting for her happy childhood and the source of many treasured memories. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Lowell “Jerry” Willows, and her brother Jim.
Jerry attended North Dallas High School, where she formed cherished friendships that she continued to nurture throughout her life. After graduating in 1946, she attended Southern Methodist University and Texas Women’s University. She then worked as an executive assistant for Sears, Roebuck and Company.
Jerry was married to Burl Davidson for 38 years, during which time she was a full-time wife and mother – “the most loving, giving, and encouraging mom you could ask for,” according to her children, Steve and Laura. She volunteered in PTA, Cub Scouts, and Campfire Girls, and was a faithful, active member of Lakeview Christian Church in Dallas.
Jerry was always the heart of the neighborhood, bringing together families through her outgoing personality, generous spirit, and talent for arts and crafts. This was especially evident during the three years the family lived in St. Louis, Mo., where she helped transform their once-disconnected neighbors into a vibrant and caring community.
In 1974, Jerry’s life was forever changed when she attended an old-fashioned revival meeting and began studying the Bible. “I learned that in addition to being my Savior, Jesus wanted to be my Lord,” she would later say. And she dedicated the remainder of her days to following the Lordship of Christ, setting a godly example for all the members of her family. Over the years, she was an integral part of several fellowships of faith, including Hillcrest Church in Dallas, and most recently First Baptist Church Hebron.
Jerry’s daily mission was to be a blessing to others, and she continually found new ways to accomplish this. Her friends are literally too numerous to count. To know Jerry was to love her, and she will be profoundly missed.
Jerry is survived by her son Steve Davidson and wife Julie; daughter Laura Bush and husband James; grandchildren Stephen Bush and wife Jennifer; Sarah King and husband Greg; Chris Bush and wife Kristin; Sam Davidson and wife Alexis; six great-grandchildren and a seventh due in January; as well as four nephews and their families.
A family service is planned for Monday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. Others may join via Facebook Live at: First Baptist Church Hebron | Facebook In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Hebron: fbchebron.org
