Jerry Benton Hall Jr.'s Obituary
Richardson – Jerry (Jay) Benton Hall Jr. went to be with Jesus on Monday, July 6, 2020. Jay was born in West Texas Hospital in Lubbock, Texas on July 9, 1965. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1983 and got his BA degree from Texas Tech University, graduating from the school of Mechanical Engineering, and then secured his PE degree from UVA.
While at Tech, he met Kathleen Bison and they were married in 1990. Jay worked as staff engineer for Reynolds Aluminum in Richmond, Virginia before starting his own building inspection and engineering company there. In 2013 he relocated back to Texas where he continued his engineering company operations and became an area staff engineer for a national building inspection company.
Jay met Megan Anne Barrett of Richardson, TX in July of 2013 and they tied the knot in April of 2015. Megan survives Jay along with five children, Mary Katherine of Hoboken, NJ, Jerry (Jason) Benton Hall III of Dallas, TX, Patrick Christopher of Richmond, VA, Alexandria Barrett Harwood of Dallas, TX and Brittany Anne Walker (Jason) of Ft. Worth, TX. Jay is also survived by his sister, Angela Claire Potts of Lubbock, TX and his parents, Jerry Sr. and Linda Hall of Lubbock, TX and Pamela Harrison Wheatley of Dallas, TX. He was predeceased by his grandparents, W.M. and Vivian Hall, Bill and Virginia Harrison and his sister Jamey Elizabeth.
Jay loved to travel and was able to see many wonderful places. Beginning as a teenager going on mission trips to Ireland, England, and Scotland with Teen Missions, Jay developed the habit of making lifelong friends wherever he went and remained close to so many through the years. Later he traveled to Europe on several occasions for pleasure as well as numerous trips for his company Reynolds Aluminum, working on design and procurement of gas turbine blades. In 2013 Jay went on a mission trip to an isolated village on the Amazon and in 2016 went with his daughter Alex and Living Water missions to Honduras to dig water wells to supply drinking water to remote villages.
Jay and Megan were made for each other, liking all the same things, hiking, traveling, food and mostly, each other. Their travels took them all over the lower 48, the Caribbean and Alaska. Jay and Megan loved to visit family and took every opportunity to visit their North Carolina family, and their West Texas Family. Church was an important part of their lives and they were involved with their Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Garland, and various outreach opportunities of the church. The Sunday School class became like family and walked with, prayed for, and cheered on Jay though his two-year battle with brain cancer.
Jay was diagnosed with a brain tumor in April 2018, had surgery to remove the tumor May 2018 and continued to go through chemotherapy, radiation, clinical trials, and ongoing treatments for 26 months. During this time, Jay kept the faith, and lived each day to the fullest, making memories with his family and just enjoying life. Jay was the best hubby, dad, son, stepdad, and friend anyone could have asked for. He was greatly loved and will be forever missed.

John 14:1-3
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
