Cathy and Family, So sorry to hear about Jerry, we know he will be missed. He was such a great person to work with all those years ago. A fantastic friend and someone that you could really trust. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. John (Papa) and Sandy Beard Sr.
What a great door man. Never had to wait more than a few seconds to get in the house as Jerry was always an arm's length away from the door. He always made sure his recliner was nice and worn in. We always enjoyed eating with Jerry and Cathy, and sometimes Glenn as well, at their favorite places. I will always remember how you and Cathy welcomed me into the family and treated me as if you had known me your whole life. The kids always loved to go to your house so they could give you a rough time. We have some great memories and will miss you.
When Jacob was little we would go to Aunt Cathy & Uncle Jerry's house at least once a week and sometimes more. Jacob loved going over there to go shopping! Uncle Jerry would buy toys at the garage sale that Jacob was into at the time. Every time we came over he would let Jakey Lee pick out one toy and take it home. When he did swimming lessons in the summer, we would go over there each day after the lesson so he could get his prize for doing a good job. As soon as we walked in the door, Jacob would go straight to the front bedroom and start digging in the bottom drawer and then he would go back to the chicken coop and garage to see what was in those shops too.
We have known the Keeton's for too many years to count. We all "grew up" together on John Glen Dr. in Garland. Our neighbourhood was a family. Bobby and our son Chris played together…along with others…from early morning until night. They ate lunch at which ever house they were at when lunch time came. Water was provided though out the day by water hoses and jugs of frozen water. They did things that I'm sure the parents never knew about. They also had a Monopoly Game set up at the Allen's house that went on for months. (That was a blast from the past.) Of course we knew Jerry and Cathy (She will always be Catherine to me) because our kids introduced us. I remember Jerry as a laid back wonderful dad and husband. Years went by, as they do and our friendship was renewed through our granddaughter who was often their server at the Garland cafe and of course Marcie Keeton on Facebook. Jerry will be missed by many. Farrell and I send our sympathy and condolences to Cathy and the family. Old friends are the best friends. My only regret is that I won't be able to visit with the family today because of my health. Please know you are in my thoughts, heart, and prayers. Much love and Many hugs, Farrell n Charlotte
We're sure going to miss you Pops! Love Jason (J.D.) & Marcia
You will always be my favorite buddy! You knew the right spots to tickle me. Love Miya Jack
A couple of weeks ago Aunt Cathy, Uncle Jerry and I laughed and laughed about the nicknames that he gave people. While we were talking I made a list so I would never forget his silliness. It never was mean. I found it endearing. Terry – Bull; Sandra – 2 Shoes/Sara Sue; Mathew – Matthew Honey; Stefanie – Snefanie Darlin'; Bobby – Ole Bob; Marci – DaughterInLaw/Mercy; Christopher – Kiffer; Kyle – KK; Popeye – Popeye; Kelly, Lee, John – multiple names of the three; Susan – Susie Jack; Joel – That Man Named Joelle; Jacob – Jakey Lee; Austin – Austin Jack; Miya – Miya Jack; Barbara Shepherd – Seagull; Avon Allen – Avon Lady; Dave Nehre – Fuzz; Joan Nehre – AC Jack; Jason – JD Moffit; Geri – Fat Foot; Clara – Poncho Clarabelle/Poncho Rodriguez Gonzalez; Joe – Mexican Joe; Michael – Michael Henry; Molly – Molly Sue; Brian – Brian Anthony; Maxine – Waxy; Stormy – Lovey Dovey And of course nicknames he gave Aunt Cathy: Gopher May, Dipper May, Oinker, Napper May and many more! Other names were mentioned of friends and people he worked with. He was a character, but that's what we loved about him.
