Pat was such a nice guy, it's hard to believe he's gone. Pat came to my house to take care of ants in Sunnyvale and He said Hey didn't I see you in Shreveport with a tall woman with brown hair, then he added your married you shouldn't be doing that. I smiled and told him I have a brother that is 5 years younger than me that has a tall wife with brown hair that I was sure it was my brother that he saw because my brother looks just like me and he and his wife go to Shreveport a lot. He said he was glad to hear that because he was about to tell Linda on me. I called my brother and ask if he was in Shreveport on that day and he said yes. Pat was a great guy and fun just to talk to, I am shocked to hear he not with us any longer, my heart goes out to his family. He was a good man that God made special.
I hadn't spoken with or seen Pat for 40 years, but I'm certain the world is poorer in his absence. Pat & I were never "close" friends, but rather mutually respected acquaintances. I went to both Atwell and Carter… and so did my sister. In 1999, my beloved sister Sandy was at her home in Oak Cliff. She was bedridden and dying, as my family scrambled to take care of her in her final days. My father needed the services of an exterminator to take extreme care around the home because of Sandy's fragile condition. Pat Messimer answered the call. After Pat arrived, he and my father gradually put together the fact that Pat had known myself & Sandy from school (I was not there). My father said that Pat broke down in tears as he realized that he'd known this family that was in such deep pain. My father said that Pat was extremely sensitive and helpful, and followed-up repeatedly to check on both his service satisfaction and Sandy's health. Sandy passed just a few weeks later. I live in Seattle, so I never got the chance to interact with Pat on those occasions. But I'll never forget how empathetic & helpful Pat was towards my parents and sister. I'm proud to have known this man. I only wished I had known him better. My deepest & most sincere condolences to the family of this wonderful man. Mike Miller
