Jerry Guffey Pittman's Obituary
Jerry Guffey Pittman passed away on March 10, 2016 at the age of 85. She was born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma on January 15, 1931. Jerry grew up in Dallas, Texas, graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and earned a BA at Southern Methodist University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, and was a life loyal member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Known affectionately as LDLW (Little Daughter Laughing Water) to her parents and Mimi to her beloved grandchildren, Jerry was a devoted daughter, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to all her family. Her great joys in life were her faith, her family, her friends, travel, and bridge. She will be remembered for her kind and generous heart, her love of conversation, and her dedication to letter writing, greeting cards, and stickers. She considered everyone she met a potential friend. Her positive outlook on life was an inspiration to all. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched. Jerry is survived by daughter Susan Wilson and husband Scott; daughter Jo Ellen Kamen and husband Alan; daughter Mary Frances Pittman; granddaughter Brynn Wilson; grandson Jeffrey Wilson and his fiance Madeline Hays, whom Jerry was so looking forward to welcoming into her family. Also survived by brother Bill Guffey and wife Charlotte; sister Jo Lynn James; nieces and nephews Charlotte Guffey (daughter Christina); John and Sonia Guffey (sons Benjamin and Christopher); Stephen and Margaret James; Joe Guffey (daughter Olivia); and Claire James (daughters Margo and Rose, son Joe). A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 14th at 3:00PM in Cox Chapel at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas TX 75205. A reception in Cox Parlor will immediately follow the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Visiting Nurses Association – Meals on Wheels, 1600 Viceroy, Suite 400, Dallas, TX 75235; or HPUMC-Night Owls Program, 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75205; or the charity of your choice.
