Jerry Wayne Reynolds' Obituary
Jerry Wayne Reynolds, 67, also known as Brother Jerry, Pastor Jerry, Pops, and Jacklegg, left his earthly home and family to enter his heavenly home on November 21, 2019. His family was privileged to surround him with prayers and love as he went to see Jesus.Jerry was born on November 24, 1951, to Geral and Betty Reynolds in Dallas, Texas. His childhood included living on a 150 acre pecan orchard in Bullard, Texas. He was always proud to be a boot-wearing Texan. His parents’ farm was the origin of many of his mechanical skills and interests. While attending Tyler Junior College he was introduced to Sharon Knighten, his future bride of 45 years.After receiving an associate degree from TJC, he was employed as a draftsman at Southern Pacific Railroad. Following his employment at the railroad, he joined his dad in the used car business. Jerry began his ministry for Jesus as a co-vocational youth minister in 1976, at Robinwood Baptist Church. After a successful 17 years, God then called him to First Baptist Church Sachse as youth pastor and later he was named associate pastor. The Lord began stirring in Jerry’s heart to plant a church and he and Sharon did so in the living room of their home. This church began as Allen Family of Faith and later became First Baptist Church Lucas. On October 27, 2019, he was named Founding Pastor of FBC Lucas.Not only did Jerry love and serve Jesus, he enjoyed various hobbies that gave him the opportunity to share his faith. You might find him jumping dirt hills with his home-made dune buggy, flying a Cessna 172 across the Texas skies, golfing with his buddies, fishing and hunting with his father-in-law and friends, restoring a ’57 Chevy truck with son-in-law #2, or family vacationing at historic sites with son-in-law #1. You could find he and Sharon across the states at car shows and swap meets. His expertise and knowledge of vehicles made him the CEO of family and friend automotive questions. He could fix anything with a motor. His zest for life showed in all of his endeavors.Jerry loved Jesus Christ first, then his family, and all God’s people. He loved sharing life with others. His faithful love to his wife Sharon was evident throughout their 45 years of blissful marriage. They shared a love and devotion to one another that provided a godly example of marriage to so many. One of his most precious joys was the birth of his two daughters, Candice and Kaylee. He was involved in all their activities and accomplishments. He escorted them on the football field during homecoming events, down the aisle at each of their weddings, and welcoming all four of his grandkids.Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Sharon Reynolds; his daughter and son-in-law Candice and Adam Wright; his daughter and son-in-law Kaylee and Josh Giebel; his grandchildren: Abigail Wright, Kate Wright, Jax Giebel, and Maggie Giebel; his sister and brother-in-law Cindy and Bob Crawford; his brother and sister-in-law Rocky and Tammy Reynolds; his mother-in-law Joanne Knighten; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karon and Boyd London; his sister-in-law Jeni Knighten; beloved nieces and nephews; and countless friends.Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at First Baptist Church Sachse. Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at First Baptist Church Sachse, located at 2412 3rd St. Sachse, Texas 75048.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Lucas. www.firstbaptistlucas.com
