Bernice was always helping people and putting other people first before her and teaching bible study's with the kids she watched over at the different church's We went to lake point and lake ridge bibe church and she also did Vacation bible school for a week at her house for the young kids on our street we lived on westlake and also loved putting together food for party's she had and holidays party's and loved those thanksgiving holidays and Christmas came she would ask me and my mom to help make a ginger bread house this one Christmas and put together the tree for Christmas and loved being a part of people's lives and was always there to help out with food in the chruch to Love from Jonathan
One detail missing from Bernice?s glorious service record (see obituary) was her heartfelt commitment to Missions. Lakeridge began as an extension of Reinhardt Bible Church where Barbara and I served as missionaries. As a member, Bernice reached out to us, committed to pray for us, and invited us to her home. When we returned for furlough to the new Lakeridge Bible Church she was one of the first to invite us for dinner. Even with our four very lively children she had no problem accommodating us. Necee, Thank you! Thank you for your testimony and for living it. You have left a legacy that my children & grandchildren witnessed every day. Times when I came up short, you were there as my older sister to lift me up, encourage me and point me in the right direction. You raised my daughter and grandson when I could not-as I've told you many times, no words can express my gratitude is immeasurable. You led by example. How great is THAT!! Family get-togethers will never be the same. You may be gone from us but you left footprints for us to follow. So, the last thing I told you here and the first thing you hear in Heaven is, 'Well done, you have been a good and faithful servant. I love you girl! Always have – always will! Your sister, Pat
Enchanted Cottage was purchased for the family of Jewel Bernice Holt.
So many memories to share about this wonderful servant of God. Bernice was one of many influential women in my life that help mold me. As a child, I was mesmerized by her teachings in Sunday school. Bernice, using her black canvas and biblical characters, I can see her adding Joseph and Mary and then the 3 Wise Men to the canvas all the while looking over her shoulder as she was telling the story. Or all of us nieces and nephews piling into her car to go to Louisiana for BMA camp. Back before everyone was worried about car seats and seatbelts. Then there were the Saturday nights spent at her house and waking up to Lester Roloff blaring on the radio as she was cooking us breakfast and getting us ready for church. Wonderful memories…so blessed that my children had the same memories of her as well. Always a smile on her face, a big hug and a kind word. She was a Jewel indeed.
My Aunt Bernice was a true servent of God & she did so many many things for me & our son Jonathan Wayne. & I have so many great memories that I have with her & j will always treasure all of the memories that I have had with her. & I will always remember all of the things that she did for Jonathan & I. I also remembe when she used to take me & my sisters Kim Segale & Debra Montez & some of my cousins to BMA camp in Ring Gold Louisanna & how she listened to us going ober our verses in the car. & how she listened to all of our verses when We got to BMA Camp I will always treasure those memories I also remember when she was a Sunday School teacher there & how she told us the stories of Jesus. I also remember her playing the piano I always have enjoyed her playing the piano & I also remember her playing Bill Gaither & George Beverly shay on the radio or listening to them on her CD player Aunt Bernice Jonathan & I & Don Rossi & I love you so much & We miss you allot & We know that you are singing & dancing up in heaven right now & We are looking forward in seeing you soon.thank you so much for all that you did for Jonathan & I & for all that you did in my life love Teresa
Aunt Bernice was always welcoming friends and family into her home. Aunt Bernice was a true Woman after Goa'd own heart, she was servant who cared for others her entire life and did so without ever a complaint. She is greatly Loved.
