Scott, Todd, Brad, and I all had the joy of having Mrs. Carriker as our 6th grade teacher, the only time all four of us had the same one. She caught me sitting beside Vickie Rittman, my first girlfriend, during one of our favored movie times in class and announced it to the whole class making an embarrassing smooching sound. 😳Todd was the first one to get suspended from Greenwood Hills for cussing in her classroom and spent 3 days in ISS at JJ Pearce where I was a junior. There's no telling what trouble Scott got into and by the time Brad came around I think she said she might as well have taught all the Hover boys and had him assigned to her class.

🤔 I think we were tougher on her than she was on us.

Also, her early 80's model corvette was pretty cool.

Rest in peace Mrs. Carriker. You taught us well.

Prayers & love to your family, Carrie & Adam. Glad our moms were friends forever! Christmas time always meant getting a Christmas card in the mail from “The Carrikers” & it being out every Christmas. Mrs. Carriker was my second grade teacher. She taught me a lot about NOT to talk in class and disrupt others!!!! 😬 I was not a bad kid, I just couldn’t control what I had to say! She was sooooo caring and really enjoyed her job. She was really strict,as she should’ve been, but always would laugh or have BIG smiles everyday it seemed. I remember sitting in her class throughout the year and older students would come in every once in a while that she used to teach and her face wouldn’t light up so bright! Then she would excuse yourself and go on the hall and talk to them. As time went on, I graduated high school from JJ Pierce and joined the Air Force. Before I went off to the Air Force, I stopped by Greenwood Hills so I could be one of those kids coming in the classroom to see her smile and tell her what I’ve been up to. Well …. She was already gone! I was really disappointed. I went down to the office,willingly this time! They told me where she was and I said to myself I will go see her soon. I never did. After coming back from the Air Force I lived in the home. I grew up and close to the school. Periodically, I would see her in a blue Corvette driving down Campbell or Preston. She was always too far away for me to get her attention. As fate would have it, I saw her car one day in 2017 parked in the parking lot of Walmart at Coit and Arapaho. That’s where I shopped. I was about five aisles over and nervously I was waiting for her to come out! I couldn’t pass this opportunity up. I was nervous as ever, and I finally saw her walking out with her shopping cart. I was rehearsing in my head what to say first and as I approached her, I totally froze. As you see in the video, the first thing I said was “ You don’t know who I am do you? Lol!!!!! And the rest you’ll see in the video her face light up for me 38 years later! We must’ve talked in that parking lot for about 30 to 40 minutes. It’s something I will never forget because she was such a wonderful teacher. I cherish this video.
