Jimmy Wayne Hooks' Obituary
Jimmy Wayne Hooks peacefully closed his eyes on December 11, 2023 and opened them again in the arms of Jesus and his loving wife Gerry Ann. Jimmy was born in Hooks Texas on November 2, 1945 to Walter and Mabel Hooks. He was one of 5 having 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Jimmy proudly served is country by joining the Navy in 1964. In March of 1969 he met the love of his life, Gerry Ann Hooks and they were married for 54 amazing years. Jimmy and Gerry Ann made their home in Carrollton Texas and raised their 3 boys, James, Joel, and Jesse.
Jimmy worked for Don Young Company, a manufacturer of windows and doors for over 30 years. In his spare time Jimmy gave all of his time and talents to the Boy Scouts of America, serving in many leadership capacities. He served as Scoutmaster of Troop 114 in Circle 10 Council for decades. He was awarded the Silver Beaver. One of his true passions was serving as a leader in the Wood Badge Adult Leader Training Program. He brought his passion for Boy Scouts and Leadership to many over the years.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife Gerry Ann Hooks, son Jesse Hooks, sister Chubba Robinson, and brothers, Sam Hooks and Jerry Hooks.
Jimmy is survived by sons James Hooks and Joel Hooks (wife Aurelia), and grandchildren Ashley, Rowan, and Sequoia Hooks, sister Suzie Wright and numerous nieces and nephews.
We will gather to celebrate Jimmy’s life and legacy with a visitation on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 5 to 7pm at Restland Funeral Home followed by a funeral service on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 2pm at Restland Funeral Home.
