Mrs. Cies gave me the foundation in orchestra and violin that led me to a group of friends I'll treasure forever. Through her compassionate teaching and guidance, she showed me what music could bring to my life, and I'll always be grateful for that gift. She was truly exceptional.

Sincerest condolences to Tom, Andrew, Rachel, Uncle Lloyd, Cousins Dave and Terry in the passing of Jody. When we were young, we always looked forward to extended family gatherings on the farm in Illinois and visits to Dubuque. Fast forward to adulthood, Jody always greeted us with open arms and that infectious smile whenever we visited each other in Texas. We lit a candle today in honor of Cousin Jody. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure.

The warmth of Jody's smile blessed my heart as soon as I saw her. She was one of the first to greet me this way on my first day at Town North Presbyterian Church. I will always remember how she greeted me, no matter where I was in life. I know Jody didn't have a selfish bone in her body. Her attitude and smile even while suffering set off a spark of joy in my heart. There was something very great in that smile. It showed a depth of concern and love for others. She didn't say much. She didn't have to, because of that smile. As I became friends with the Cies', Jody was the messenger of inner strength, devotion, and love for that family. I will miss my friend, Jody, very much.
