Jody Ann Cies' Obituary
Jody was born in Dubuque IA to Lloyd & Gloria Streng – October 3, 1955. She is the Middle Child with two brothers David & Terry who both survive her. Her Mom, Gloria passed in 2017 and her Father, Lloyd will be celebrating his 97th Birthday November 30.
Jody is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tom, Two children Andrew (Wife Liz, daughter Cecilia) and Rachel (Husband Jason, Son Luke and Daughter Grace). Predeceased by daughter Alana Beth – 1980.
Jody attended the Catholic Schools in Dubuque, IA but received a music Scholarship to attend the University of Dubuque. As planned, she met and fell deeply in Love with some older guy by the name of Tom. He was a full year older. After graduation they were married November 1978 and set up a home in Dallas, TX. Where she lived until her death.
Jody was a woman of God, she had daily time where she prayed and studied her Bible, she attended many of the Women’s events at Town North Presbyterian Church where she and Tom were members since 2006. She was also in several small groups, Life on Life and sang in the Choir for special Holiday Music.
Music was her Career – she taught orchestra in Texas Schools and made many friends in Teaching and used her Violin Talent to join the area Orchestras, Garland Symphony and the Richardson Symphony Orchestra for 30 years. The number of students who still come up and thank her for being their teacher may be dwindling but over a 30-year career, there were many.
When her first grandchild, Luke, was born, she retired and shared baby sitting with Jason’s Mom – Violi and did this even into the Time her second grandchild, Grace, was born. Realizing that one kid might be manageable, two infants is exhausting, Rachel & Jason wisely enrolled the kids into preschool.
Jody loved her family, was very proud of her children and was crazy about the grands. She would have withdrawals if she didn’t see them on a regular basis – as they got older and more involved in School and their friends, Jody still needed to see them as often as she could!
Her cancer battle began in 2023 when she was first diagnosed, the news, predictably, was a real blow but her character shown where she replied on that first morning, “With God’s Help, I am going to fight this with every once of strength I have” And she did and for awhile it looked like she might be beating this disease. Near the end of her Earthly life, the disease came back and this treatment was pretty tough and in the end it wasn’t the cancer but the many side effects.
Jody loved her life, her many friends and her marriage! As a wife she was so supportive to Tom and his many dreams and aspirations. But the Truth is, she is the reason many of the wonderful things this partnership, engineered by God, was able to complete. Of course Jody will be missed, but she will live on in our hearts and Memories. Thank you God for blessing us with Jody Ann!
