Joe Alvin Peters, 68, of Dallas, Texas, transitioned to eternal life on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The third of four children born to Joe and Thelma Peters, Joe grew up in the Dallas community of Hamilton Park and attended schools in the Richardson School District. He graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1975 and subsequently attended El Centro Junior College.
Joe developed a strong work ethic and honed his culinary skills during his youth and years of working in the family soul food restaurant, the Cozy Corner. Following his parents’ retirement, from the restaurant business, Joe changed careers. For over 35 years, until his passing, he worked for Southwest Diagnostic Imaging Center.
Quiet, reflective, and astute, Joe often noted living a simple life that included enjoying sports, reading, cooking, various musical genres and time spent with family and friends.
Joe demonstrated unconditional love to his family and friends, who relied on his guidance and support. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Joe and Thelma Peters, and his siblings Shirley Peters and Oscar Peters. Joe leaves, to cherish his memory, daughters, Biancca Alexander and Latarsheaia Edwards; grandchildren, Tamesha Simmons, Karla Thornton, Amariae Benjamin, Ajalion Edwards, Khyreioun Edwards, Jhymoria Gearard, and Jheyce Edwards; sister, Brenda Peters; great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
