Joel Barry Bond's Obituary
Joel Barry Bond, age 66, died from cancer at home in Dallas on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Joel is survived by his wife, Melinda Bond; daughter, Traci McCullough and her husband, Joseph; son, Mark Bond and his wife, Carol; and grandson, Billy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Libby Bond. Joel was born in Fort Worth on January 21, 1948. He attended Steven F. Austin University where he met his wife, Melinda. They married on July 7, 1973 and moved to Dallas. Joel began working for Ohio Medical Products, which eventually became GE Healthcare, as a biomedical engineer. After retiring from GE Healthcare, Joel obtained his dream job of working in the firearms department at Cabela’s. Joel and Melinda welcomed their children, Traci in 1981, and Mark in 1985. Joel was a wonderful father who taught his children the importance of honesty and integrity. He also taught them how to work hard to reach their goals. Joel loved being outdoors. He loved skiing, horseback riding, and camping and he had a wonderful way with animals. He was the coach for his children’s many sport activities. Joel was also an avid gun collector and an incredible marksman. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. A reception will follow at Restland Funeral Home. All are welcomed to attend to celebrate Joel’s life. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Operation Kindness – a no kill animal shelter in Carrollton, Texas.
