Ron Montgomery
Thank you, Hunt family, for sharing your dad, brother, grand dad, uncle and pastor with me. My family joined OCBF in 1990. We moved from a small church in Garland and wondered how we would make the transition. Brother John and Sister Doris took us in to the Garland Care Cell and immediately we found our “small church” under their spiritual guidance. Somehow John’s humorous spirit came out with me. For example, we set out, weekly, on a quest for the metroplex’s “Best Hamburger”. But the “Hunt Hamburger Hunt” never resulted in John finding the perfect burger. He would critique the texture of the meat, the firmness of the bun, and even the taste of the condiments. He would chide me about how could I possibly find “that burger, tasty”. We always had a good laugh about how he would find fault in any burger that I thought was “perfect”. We both learned to find perfection in life’s imperfections.
I, along with all of us, will miss Brother John, but we take solace in the fact that he is with Lord now, and he has nothing of which to claim the imperfection.
