John T. Knox's Obituary
Sunrise January 16, 1924-Sunset March 6, 2017. Life on Earth ended after 93 years for this incredible, kind, gentle and loving man. Over 72 years were shared with the love of his life, Nancy McFadden. His adoring wife along with his daughter, Dara Stewart, and his son, John Knox, Jr. survive him. John was born in Greenville, Texas to Roy P. and Estella Knox. He and his brother, Paul E. Knox who predeceased him, were raised in Dallas. John graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He attended Texas A & M before becoming a pilot in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. John was a successful entrepreneur in the Richardson area whose business activity primarily focused on insurance before expanding into real estate, banking and home health care. A man of high principle and integrity, he was a wonderful husband, father and friend to many. He likely played 10,000 rounds of golf and attended at least as many recovery meetings where he sponsored countless individuals. He served and gave back in the way Jesus taught us to do. John, the grandson of a Methodist Minister, was a founding member of St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church but found his strongest calling in the recovery community where this year he would have received his 40 year chip. John left a wonderful legacy, lesson and memories that will be cherished by his wife, children, and grandchildren: Anitra, Kelly, Scott, JT, Stephen, David and five great-grandchildren. The service for John Knox will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, March 11, 2017 in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
