John Turner MacPhee's Obituary
Jack was born April 12, 1935 in Spokane, WA and passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 17, 2017 in Plano, TX. Jack was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his father John, mother Luella and brother Keith, along with so many extended family members and precious friends that have gone before him. A proud Washington State University alum, Jack met the love of his life Carolyn, with whom he would spend the following 62 years, 57 of them married. Jack had a wry sense of humor, and many people in those 57 years would be introduced to Carolyn as “… my first wife”. Jack spent 27 years with IBM in various sales and administration roles. Early in his career with IBM, that next job was always at least 500 miles away and 18 to 24 months apart, until arriving in Dallas, TX in 1976 to plant deep roots. From that point on, Thanksgiving dinner was always scheduled around the Cowboys game! Once in Dallas, Jack and Carolyn became active members of Preston Hollow United Methodist Church. Through the years, Jack rarely missed a Sunday, held multiple positions within the church, and taught an adult Sunday school class for 13 years. His children’s sermons are legendary. A man of strong faith, Jack let his light shine bright and touched many lives in his 82 years. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn MacPhee; brother, Gary MacPhee of San Antonio, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cara MacPhee of Frisco, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Susie MacPhee of Frisco, TX, as well as grandchildren, Jordan MacPhee, Nolan MacPhee and Megan MacPhee. There will be a celebration of Jack’s life on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Preston Hollow UMC in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that your generosity be directed to the Parkinson Voice Project (http://www.parkinsonvoiceproject.org/donate.html). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
