John Jefferson Reese Sr.'s Obituary
John J Reese Sr, 84, of Dallas, TX, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning 8/21/2016. He was born June 6, 1932 in Comanche, TX, son of Tom F Reese Sr and Marion Esther Waring Reese. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Barbara Jan, his daughters Jan Marie and Laura Lu, son John Jr, sister Marion Lu Luecke, brother-in-law Dr P.E. Luecke Jr, brother Hayne Reese and sister-in-law Nancy Reese. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tom F. Reese Jr. As long term Dallasite, John’s life was dedicated to his wife, 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, extended family, and friends. He was a hard-working, tireless, loving man. He will be missed by those who crossed paths with him and experienced his patience, kindness, and sense of humor. John graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX in 1949. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy and served his country in the Korean War earning an honorable discharge in March 1955. Returning home he pursued a degree in accounting at North Texas State University. Upon completion of his degree he found employment with the United States General Accounting Office from which he retired after a productive career. He was then free to pursue his many hobbies including building and flying remote controlled airplanes. His passion for antique cars led him and his wife to become an active member of the Horseless Carriage Club of America. John was an active member of St Matthews Cathedral in Dallas, TX and led the Episcopal Youth Commission for a number of years. John and Barbara met on their first date at White Rock Lake and then spent a lifetime of joy together after being married in 1955. During their 60 years of marriage, they shared a love of White Rock Lake, travel, antique cars, and family life. Services with Military Honors will be held at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243 on Saturday Aug 27, 2016 at 11 am. A visitation and viewing will be held Friday August 26 from 6-8 pm at Restland Funeral Home. The family wishes to thank Prestonwood Rehabilitation Center and Compass Hospice for their care of John in his time of need.
