John A. Roemer's Obituary
John passed away suddenly on June 10. He was born in Buffalo, New York on June 7, 1949. John graduated from Williamsville High School in Williamsville, New York in 1967. After attending Erie County Community College, he transferred to Central Missouri State in Warrensburg, Kansas with a degree in Law Enforcement. He served as a police officer in the town of Prairie Village, Kansas where he moved into the recruiting function of the police force. While there, he enjoyed coaching youth hockey. In 1979, John moved to Dallas to be a recruiter for Cutler-Williams. There he met Sallie and they were married in 1981 and in 1988 they were blessed with their daughter Katerina. He continued his role as recruitment manager with ITEC, MCI/WorldCom, Spherion, Hewitt and Xerox. He found hundreds of jobs for people over his career as a recruiting manager. John’s recruiting skills were well respected over the entire country. After retiring, he joined the YMCA Lake Highlands family as a part of their staff. He enjoyed coaching T-ball, Girls soccer, Girls softball, Girls basketball, and attending every event his daughter was in. And he was always there to cheer her on. John is preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Doris Roemer, his brother Donald Roemer and his in-laws Ruth and Virbol Bartlett. John is survived by his wife Sallie and daughter Katerina “Pearl”, brother Dennis Roemer (Rosemary) of South Carolina, nephews Erik Roemer (Kim) of Ohio, Andrew (Becky) of South Carolina, niece Heather (Darrin) of North Carolina, sister-in-law Sandy Roemer, East Aurora, NY, grandnephews Josh, Hayden, Landon, Hayden, Zach and grandnieces Sasha and Alex. Memorials can be made to YMCA Lake Highlands Scholarship Fund, 8920 Stults Road, Dallas, TX 75243. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 17th at 1:30 pm at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX in the Faith Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
