I greatly admired Johnny as a younger brother. He spent a lot of time with me and took me places an older brother didn't have to. When I grew up I hoped I could be as good a man as my dad and my brother Johnny. Even though our careers took different paths and places we stayed close to one another.
He was always interested in how his young brother was doing when he went out of his way to visit Emma and I at Cherry Point NC in my first meaningful assignment as a military officer. He and Ruby and Emma and I went with them on many trips to places like Rome, Paris, and one down the Rhine and Danube. He led a productive life and raised a nice family and is greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
I knew Johhny and Ruby in the first year when I came to America in 2002. They were our Sunday school teachers. Johhnny and Ruby were so nice and always willing to help the new comers in Chinese Fellowship group. Johhny had the sense of humor. Johnny always brough the happiness to the people around him. Last year, My friend and I visited Johnny and Ruby in the nursing home. Although they could not recognize us, they still looked energetic and happy! What a wonderful couple! I wish Johnny will keep his sense of humor and bring the happiness with him in the heaven! RIP Johhnny!

Johnny Ray is my first cousin. Philippians 1:3 is a perfect commentary from our immediate family to Johnny and the Rays: "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you." In our family there was not a more revered person than Johnny's mother, Aunt Olline, whom our grandmother called her "Jewel." Johnny inherited this same revered status- and more importantly, he earned it. Johnny is one of the very finest Christians I have ever known. I can never forget when Johnny, Ruby, Rhonda and Dwight came down to Florida to visit us when my brother and I were young teenagers. Christ was everything to Johnny and how he loved his family, even though of us once removed! When I surrendered to preach the Gospel, Johnny often came to hear me preach, even though it was a bit of a drive. I had so much to learn, but what an encouragement he was to me. To Ruby and family, we love you and we're praying for you.
