Jon may have been the greatest man of faith I have ever known. His integrity and simple faith that God was in control served as an example for all who knew him. We count it an honor to have shared his life and visualize with joy the reception God had prepared for him.
Jon was a man of great faith, humility and integrity, one of the finest men I have ever known. He was a man of great compassion for others. He and his wife Pat were a wonderful couple, a wonderful team in life and an inspiration to all of us who have known them. Thank you Jon for gracing my life. Charles

Jon lived spiritual grace, impeccable integrity and a delightful humor. Pat and the family lose a husband, father, grandfather. The world has lost "a man after God's own heart." Our heartfelt condolences to Pat and all of Jon's family. We and so many others will miss Jon. He happily spent his life in service to others. His integrity and deep and lasting faith in the Lord serves as an example for all of us who were touched by his presence. Significant among all that I know of Jon is the everlasting love and joy that he shared with Pat. A remarkable man and an inspiring couple. We know that all of his expectations of his new life with the Lord, while here with us, are being fulfilled at this very moment.
A fond memory of Jon and Pat is the many times Jon would drive up to the office to take his loving partner to lunch. I would sometimes stop and chat with him and he always had a good word to share. I could see the love this fine couple shared. He will be greatly missed. A fine gentle man.
I found a picture in my mothers old photo album of a billboard with Jon A. Pirtles name notiing a Special Evalelistic Series. The picture was taken in July of 1957 in Hampton, VA. I googled his name and found his obituary. How wonderful a man he must have been.
