Joseph Armant's Obituary
Joseph was born in New Orleans, LA to Joseph and Enola Armant. He had 2 sisters Carolyn & Cheryl and 1 brother Gale (Boc). He had many nicknames, “King, Squeak and Hoss. He was married to Antronette (Toni) for 42 years. He had 3 sons, Ron, Jeff and Justin and 6 grandchildren.
He moved from New Orleans to Dallas in 1980 with his job at General Motors. He loved working at GM where he made many lifelong friends. He retired in 2004.
His family and friends will say that he “ate, drank and slept sports”. Many knew Squeak as a basketball, baseball and football fanatic but he loved all sports including race horses, swimming and golf.
He was also mentor to many young people in New Orleans. He was instrumental in opening
Treme’ youth recreational center. And in Dallas where he volunteered at the Boys and Girls club earning the honor of “Volunteer of the Year award.”
He was a basketball and football referee for high school and middle school as well peewee football and youth basketball. He also coached girls and boys basketball.
The Armant family would like to thank you for all the phone calls, cards, flowers, food and expressions of love during this time.
Joe “Squeak, Hoss” Armant will be missed by his family and many devoted friends.
