Uncle Joe was like a father to David and I. He was always there if we needed him. He was also very supported to our mother. He was the best uncle anyone could ask for. He will be missed. RIP Uncle Joe. You will always be in our hearts.

My sister and I never knew our real dad. However the lord gave us our UNCLE JOE and throughout the years of all our lives , he was always there to support my mother, myself, and my sister survive in this world. He was already an angel on earth and now he is an angel in heaven…God bless UNCLE JOE–he will always be LOVED—his nephew–David Maggi
I have known Joe and Martha Cottrell and their sweet family since l973 in the very early days of the Appraisers ' Building on Griffin St. There was a family-like atmosphere, and lasting friendships were made. A good many of those friends have passed on through the years, and now we mourn and honor Joe, that dear, dear man. Judy Morrow Blake

I first met Joe in the late 1960's as a very green appraiser. It was an instant bond that has lasted almost 50 years. He was a great mentor and role model. I had the privilege of working with him on many projects and always came away better for the association. He was the consummate professional, honest to a fault and was respected throughout the state, first as a statesman, gentleman, real estate professional and a wonderful friend. We have lost a great individual that has left a void in our hearts and in the real estate community. Judy and my thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. Marlin and Judy Blake
When I moved to Dallas in 1969 my first memory into the appraisal business is that of Joe signing my application for membership in the Society of Real Estate Appraisers which meant the world to me. He was always there to help anyone who asked about an appraisal problem. Always a gentlemen and professional, if you needed any help he was the first to be called. He helped me through the chairs of the Society, regional and at National conventions. I know I will miss him and his counsel. Appraisers in North Texas will all be less cable for his passing. He will be missed by all appraisers in the Texas. Joe was the leading force behind the Societies Dallas Chapter growth as the leading chapter in the Nation and its success as the largest chapter in the Nation. He was always a constant supporter of anyone who wanted to be an appraiser. He always supported becoming a professional and joining the Society and or its successor. Joe, I shall miss you and your counsel. God Bless and Keep You. I know you will be missed by your family; I pray they understand you will be missed by all of us. George West
I love my daddy. I remember when he and I drove to California. We had such a good time we bought oranges in Arizonia and didn't realize we could not take the across the state line so we tried to eat them before we got there. Precious memories. I love you Joey
