I first met Joe on my first day at Northern Telecom early in 1981; he and I would eventually work as colleagues for nearly a decade, and as good friends for another thirty. Joe was a superb sales executive, a fearless negotiator, and a loyal friend. We always found a way to have fun in our profession, and without ever having said it-- it was clear Joe's #1 mission was to take care of his family. All his many awards, accolades and the important deals he closed were secondary to his love of his family and assurance of their happiness.
There was a top sales award at Nortel called "Masters"; though a number of people won it over the years despite its difficulty, it was Joe who truly defined the term as true sales Master. I can't remember a day I was with Joe I didn't learn something new or share a few laughs. I will truly miss him.
