Joseph "Joe" Michael Revesz's Obituary
Joseph (Joe) Michael Revesz passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, at his home, surrounded by family. Joseph was born on January 11, 1939 to Mary Revesz and Michael Joseph Revesz in Jersey City, New Jersey. Joe lived a vibrant and fulfilling life. He loved to travel and went on many cruises. He enjoyed attending the symphony and the opera. Most of all, he loved his wife, Vivian.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13th at Restland Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. followed by memories and rosary at 6:15 p.m. Rosary and Funeral services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2024, at Mater Dei Catholic Parish in Irving, Texas. Burial will be at 1:00pm at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas. In 1958, Joe entered the Army branch of the military where he went to radio repair school at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was stationed in Korea. After Korea, he was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia, where he worked as a professional aggressor raiding training squads.
In 1965, Joe received an undergraduate of electrical engineering degree from Newark College of Engineering. That same year, Joe met and married Rosemary Turnbach with whom he had two children, Joseph Michael Revesz, Jr and Jennifer Ann Revesz. They divorced in 1974.
Joe went on to graduate from George Washington University in 1969, with a law degree, and In January of 1970, Joe joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an agent under the leadership of J. Edgar Hoover.
He then went to work for Western Electric from April 1972 until November 1973 as a patent associate. In 1973, Joe moved to Dallas, Texas to work for a patent law firm. He passed the bar in April of 1974. At this same time, Joe worked as a reserve cop until October of 1975.
Joe began working in the Dallas District Attorney’s office under the direction of Henry Wade in October of 1975. He worked there until he became an Assistant United States Attorney in the Dallas Division of the Northern District of Texas in 1984. Joe was an outstanding prosecutor and often entertained his friends with his many stories of the cases he worked. During a trial in Judge Jorge Solis’ courtroom, he set eyes on a beautiful court reporter. In 1997, he asked her on a date and on May 25, 2005, Joe married this court reporter he was so enamored with, Vivian Bradley.
During Joe’s time working as an Assistant United States Attorney, he received one of the highest honors bestowed on Assistant United States Attorney, the Thurgood Marshall award for outstanding service, in addition to many other honors and awards. He retired from public service in March of 2019.
Joe was a member of the American Bar Association, the Knights of Columbus and of Mater Dei Catholic Parish.
Joe was preceded in death by his mother and father, and by his first wife, Rosemary Turnbach. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Bradley, his sister, Carole Ann Dukes and her husband, Al Dukes, his brother, Michael Joseph Revesz and his wife Madeline and their children Victoria and Adam, and by his son, Joseph Michael Revesz, Jr. and his wife Heather, and his daughter, Jennifer Ann Revesz. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Heather Ramsey and her husband Shawn, his stepson, Shane Bradley and his wife Angela, and by his four grandchildren, whom he adored, John, Kylie, Lila and Kylah and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be eternally missed by his family and his many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a memorial contribution, in his honor, to Mater Dei Catholic Parish 2030 E State Hwy 356, Irving, Texas 75060. Phone number 972-438-7600.
Please note for funeral services modest attire is required. Out of respect for Mater Dei Catholic Parish, women must wear long dresses with appropriate coverage of upper body and men must wear collared shirts and slacks.
