Joseph Lodor's Obituary
With great sadness, we announce that our Founder and Chairman of the Board of Commerce Grinding, Joseph ” Joe” Lodor passed away peacefully the evening of Saturday, October 17, 2015 in Dallas, Texas after his courageous and long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and received his last rite from his pastor, Father Rodolfo Garcia. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Evangeline “Angie” Cayton-Lodor, his sons Don and Dennis, his daughter Sandra and her husband Jon Hobbs and grandchildren Josh, Seth, Hayden, Cayden and Lindsay; and his magyar brother, Elemer Engel. Born January 17, 1939 in Komaron, Hungary, Joe lived an extraordinary life that was an inspiration to many and would have challenged most. Coming to the United States in 1962, his work ethic was matched by his generosity. When Joe started Commerce Grinding in 1978, he had a vision. His knack for machining metals was natural for him and he always believed that everyone is blessed with a talent. His belief paid off. He considered every employee a family member. In 2007, Joe consolidated his ownership of Commerce Grinding, Superior Saw and Commerce Plating into Lodor Enterprises, Inc. This corporation continues to do business as Commerce Grinding and Superior Saw. Joe then transferred his ownership of Lodor Enterprises, Inc. to his employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). His accomplishments were far more than was expected, he loved every member of Commerce, and he respected and appreciated each customer. He also was thankful to everyone who believed in him, from his first investor, Clyde, his first banker, Pete and his first employee, Tim. In addition to an amazing business, his love of hunting (his prized hunt, Bruno, a 10ft 5in brown bear is the company’s mascot), fishing and being outdoors. He enjoyed sports especially the Cowboys. He also enjoyed traveling around the world to many places with his wife Angie and he enjoyed the symphony with his close friends. His adventures and stories are what will keep his memories alive. With his passing, our hearts are heavy but his spirit is free. We invite you to attend Joe Lodor’s Memorial Service to celebrate his life and influence.
