Betty , I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Vern. He was probably the most attention to detail , customer engineer specialist that IBM had. When Vern fixed a machine you knew the problem was fixed along with any other problems that the customer was not aware of just yet. It was just Vern's nature not to be satisfied until everything worked as advertised. After IBM, He helped me a couple of times with my home air conditioner and he was the same with air conditioner fix approach as he was with computer fix approach. Everything had to be perfect. Vern truly was one of a kind and will be missed. Dick Hand
