Joy Poovey Webster's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joy Faye Poovey Webster who departed from this world on May 28, 2025, Born on July 16,1932 in Weatherford Texas to Gladys and Rodell Stover. Joy lived a life rich with love, accomplishments, and unforgettable memories.
Joy grew up in Brock Texas and later her family moved to Garland Texas. She had 2 sisters Wanda Mueller and Patsy Merritt. She went to Garland High school. And was a founding member of Dashing Deb’s drill team, and she was a Majorette for Dashing Deb’s. It was at Garland High School where she met our Dad, Nolan Poovey.
After high school they married and moved to Abilene, so my dad could play football at McMurry University. While he was in college, she received her secretary degree and worked to help with expenses.
After they left Abilene, they moved to Farmers Branch in the Brookhaven County Club area for my dad to be a football coach and Joy started raising her kids Debra Poovey Ransom and Flint Poovey—so many great memories.
Joy was always a great manager and accountant, so when my Dad started his next adventure in the Cattle Business, she started helping our Dad at the ranch in Forney while us kids were growing up. Years passed and she found herself a single mother.
Joy started working at the City of Carrolton as an assistant to the City Manager. And she loved this job.
She enjoyed adventures, travel and events. At one event she met Bob Webster; after dating for a while and a long-distance romance, Bob moved to Dallas, and they wed. They continued to live in Farmers Branch until they retired and moved to Sun City in Georgetown Texas. They loved their life- going to festivals dancing and traveling. One special trip was to Jerusalem to be baptized together.
Her faith was always strong. Joy was involved in many activities in Sun City, including being a Georgette, an over 60 drill team. Joy would participate in parades and many dancing events -She loved being involved in Georgettes. Joy also volunteered at Baylor Scott and White and the Caring Place. She loved her red golf cart and red Prius- Joy really could drive that little car fast.
Some of Joys most treasured times were watching her grandson Blake Edward Ransom playing football. Baseball. Basketball etc. She even travelled with us to many games throughout the summer. Blake and Debi with Mimi went numerous times to the beach and several Disney Cruise. She totally adored him and loved his kisses. Blake would spend several weeks a summer with Mimi, and they had a great time. Joy always said they had secrets. Mimi will be missed.
