Judith Ann Barta's Obituary
Judith Ann Marchese Barta, 76, of Garland, a registered nurse at several area hospitals, died August the 5th, 2016. A memorial service is scheduled for Restland Funeral Home on Saturday, August 13th, 2016 at 3:00 PM. Born in Boston, Mass., Nov. 15, 1939, the daughter of Anthony Mathew Marchese and Kathleen Marchese, she graduated from Matignon High School in Cambridge, Mass., and completed her nursing degree at Mount Auburn Hospital in 1960. She earned her B.S. degree from Boston College in 1966. She worked as a licensed registered nurse until the age of 70, and was a psychiatric nurse for many years at Timberlawn Hospital in Dallas, where she was last employed. She also worked in various nursing capacities at B.B. Owen Memorial Hospital in Richardson and other hospitals in the Metroplex. Judy was married on Feb. 12, 1966, to John James Barta, who predeceased her. They moved to Dallas in 1979. Judy was devoted to the practice of meditation and dedicated her time at the Southwest Vipassana Meditation Center in Kaufman, Texas. She is survived by daughter Jonna Lee and son-in-law Patrick Cargo of Dallas; son John Anthony Barta and wife Christie of Sachse; granddaughters Reese and Madeline Cargo, Julia and Jordyn Barta. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
