Judy Davis' Obituary
Judy Ann Davis born in Ft Worth, TX on May 16, 1945 passed away unexpectedly in Dallas, TX on August 17, 2016 one month before celebrating her 51st anniversary with her husband Jerry. Judy was short in stature but had a big heart and outsized personality. She wasn’t 4’ 11”. She was 4’ 11” and THREE/FOURTHS! She never met a stranger regardless of city, country or continent and when she entered a room it was like a bolt of lightning. Her love of Texas was infinite and her roots were deep. Her network of friends could fill AT&T Stadium. She was a great Uniter, always insisting on friends meeting up with friends and keeping in touch in person rather than phone or the newfangled technologies, of which she knew none. She dearly loved her husband Jerry’s University of North Texas Kappa Alpha fraternity brothers and their wives, Jerry’s Monday night poker group buddies and their wives as well as all the State Farm friends over the past 50 years. She will no longer be able to solve the world’s problems with friends Susette Campbell, Kaye Smith and Kateri Ewing. The streets of Dallas and nearby suburbs will miss her and her red Corvette convertible striping it down the middle of the road. Lanes were suggestions, not boundaries to her. We have lost one of our Chief Encouragers in the world who didn’t believe in the word “no”. She always went out of her way to help any of her vast numbers of friends. She loved clipping recipes out of the newspapers and magazines, but cooked once a month…because you never know when you need the recipes! The world was a better place with her in it and will be a more boring place without her…and more quiet now that her infectious laugh is gone. Her granddaughters will miss that laugh more than anything. She is survived by her husband Jerry Davis, her son Todd, her son Jon and daughter-in-law Lisa Davis, her granddaughters (aka, accomplices in Nana adventures) Annabelle, Lilly, Gracie and Felicity Davis of Dallas, brother Jim Clampitt, brother-in-law Donald Davis and Mary Taylor, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Susan Davis, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kenneth and Barbara Hite and brother-in-law David Davis, uncle Johnny Clampitt, uncle Cliff Johnston, nephews Brad and Brian Clampitt and numerous cousins. She was a member of Northwood Women’s club, one of the founders of the 4th Wednesday luncheon group in Northwood Hills, Northwood Republican Women’s Club, board of Northwood Hills HOA, volunteer for Contact and All Saints Women’s Catholic Group. Family will receive friends on August 23, 2016 from 6-8pm at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. Service will be held on August 24, 2016 at 11:00am at All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas, TX. The Davis family would like to extend their gratitude and love to the EMT and Firemen of Dallas Fire and Rescue, especially Station 56, and Medical City Emergency Room personnel. Your dedication is inspiring. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the charity of your choice in her name.
