Julie Ann Abernathy's Obituary
Julie Ann Abernathy, 82, of Richardson, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, September 18, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, James K. Abernathy.Julie was born August 10, 1936 in Dallas, Texas. She was the daughter of wonderful Christian parents, the late K.C. and Nona Bohannon Reed.After graduating from Palestine High School, Julie attended and graduated from East Texas Baptist University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education. She married her first and only love, James K. Abernathy, on August 23, 1958. They established their home in Richardson, Texas where they raised their two children, Jan and Jay. Julie and her husband joined First Baptist Richardson in 1958 and were very involved in church related ministries until their deaths. Julie especially loved the International Friends ministry where she taught English to international students for fifty years. Julie also traveled oversees and taught English in seminaries and churches in Switzerland, Poland, Romania, and Prague after the death of her husband.Julie is survived by her daughter, Jan and her husband, Dr. Ray Bandy of Bentonville, Arkansas; son, Jay and his wife, Kelle McHan Abernathy of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren Hannah Abernathy Brown, Hayley Abernathy Bohls, Caleb Abernathy, Caroline Bandy, Luke Bandy, Nathan Bandy, and two great-grandchildren, Rowan Brown and Kendall Brown. She is also survived by her brothers, Kenneth C. Reed, Jr. and his wife, Lillian, and Donald Earl Reed and his wife, Marilyn, sister-in-law Dorothy Abernathy Miller and her husband, Matt, and many precious nieces and nephews.Visitation is 6-8 pm, Friday, September 21, 2018 at Restland Funeral Home.The funeral is at First Baptist Church Richardson at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 22, 2018.“And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.
