Casey was my best friend, my confidant and at times my partner in crime. One nite in high school I was spending the nite with her. We decided we didn’t like our parents anymore so we made a decision to take her dad’s car and run away. We each took with us a stuffed animal and a bible. We had no plan, no money and obviously no sense. We were driving down the highway and realized the gas gauge was on empty. As much as we hated to we knew it was time to go back to her house. As we approached the house it was lit up like a Christmas tree. Unbeknownst to us their dog, Sparky, had given us away as soon as we left. Big Ed had called my dad and together they called the highway patrol. Needless to say my dad took me home immediately and grounded me from seeing Casey for a month.
Casey had a huge loving heart and generosity of spirit. She made me laugh like no other. We had the best heartfelt talks, each sharing our humanness with each other and always without judgment. She enriched my life so much.
We played Words With Friends everyday..multiple games. I couldn’t bear to delete all the games after she was gone so I’ve left one open...just in case.
You were a light in so many people’s life, my friend. I miss you beyond measure.
