Kathleen Sammons Bergen's Obituary
Kathleen Sammons Bergen, 74, of Dallas, Texas, experienced her homegoing on March 5th, 2021. Casey, or “CiCi'' as she was known by her grandchildren, lived a full life marked by Christ's love for others. She was born to Ed and Bonnie Sammons on November 10th, 1946 in Dallas, Texas. Casey graduated from Hillcrest High School and went on to get a degree from Stephen F. Austin. She married John Bergen in 1983, and spent 37 years together making their home a place of welcome for all. She is also survived by her husband, John, her son, Thomas, her brothers Jimmy and Mike, as well as a host of beloved friends, family, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She rejoins those who have preceded her to Heaven in her parents, Ed and Bonnie, her brothers Buddy and Charlie, her niece, Lisa, and her son, Patrick.
Casey held many roles here on earth. She was a Christ follower, a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, a sister, a daughter, an artist, a teacher, a small business owner of the Gatehouse Health Store, and a brisket and chicken spaghetti maker. However, her loving heart found its truest purpose as she spent the last few decades of her life helping care for those moving on towards eternity. As a caregiver, she drew from all her gifting's to truly ease and usher people in the transition from this world to the one that awaits with Christ. This is a high and unique calling, one she embraced. So many people know their loved ones were cared for to the very end because Casey was there with them.
All are invited to a Graveside Service to honor and say goodbye on April 9th, 2021 at 1 pm at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
In remembrance of Casey's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to For the Nations Refugee Outreach, or Tirzah International.
