Kenneth Wong's Obituary
Kenneth (Ming Chiu) Wong, age 77, of Plano, TX, passed away peacefully on August 25th, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on December 24, 1947 in China, Kenneth was the beloved child of his father Wong Yuk Chun and his mother Wong Chow Ah Sun. At a very young age, he left China with his family to settle in Hong Kong. Eventually this is where he would first meet Michaelin, who unbeknownst to him at that time, would later become his wife. He immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 14 and they settled in San Francisco. Five years later, the family moved to Dallas to join other family members. In 1978, he went back to Hong Kong to marry Michaelin, and they chose Dallas to start their journey together. Ever since then, they have called the DFW area their home.
In his twenties, Kenneth worked at Chinese restaurants to help support his family. Through his work, he did multiple jobs at the restaurants and learned the skill of cooking. The refinement of that skill eventually allowed him to become an entrepreneur where he later owned two restaurants.
Kenneth was known for cooking, reading, staying current with the news, playing mahjong, and loved singing. More recently, he was very intrigued by electric vehicles and spent time keeping up with the latest innovations and technological changes. Through these interests, it brought people closer together.
He is survived by his spouse Michaelin, children Michael (Novy) and Warren (Maree), grandchildren Alexis, Vivyan, Nolan, Ella, Emmie, siblings Richie, Greg, James, and was preceded in death by his parents. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on September 5, 2025 at 9:30 AM, followed by the memorial service at 10:30 AM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral home. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life well lived.
