Larry Wayne Elsey's Obituary
Larry Wayne Elsey was born on March 26, 1943 in Dallas, Texas, the son of Bert Francis and Willie Minalee Elsey. He passed away on November 30, 2021. He was a 16-year survivor of a double-lung transplant and inspired those around him with his gratitude and determination. His love for life showed through his many interests which he continued to enjoy long after receiving the gift of life. His faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life and carried him through his last years.
Larry graduated in 1961 from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas. He went on to graduate from Texas Tech University with a business degree in 1967 and soon after began his career in the insurance industry. He had many interests including travel, music, golf, and spending time with his family including his 5 grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He loved making memories with his family, including highlights like annual Christmas and holiday gatherings, fishing trips and golf outings. He was such a big support to his grandchildren and enjoyed attending and cheering them on in their many endeavors. He was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Tommie Louise Elsey; Sons, Michael Elsey, John Elsey and Kevin Ferguson; Daughters-in-law, Jana Elsey, Kate Elsey and Susan Ferguson; Grandchildren, Cami Burke and husband, Dennis, Allison Elsey, Megan Elsey, Zachary Elsey, Jacob Elsey and great-granddaughter Scottie Grace Burke; Sister, Glenda Kay Petkus. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bert F. Elsey Jr.
A memorial service will be held at Restland Funeral Home (13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243) on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Memorial Chapel
