Larry Coy Kirby October 4, 1942 – October 17, 2025
Larry Coy Kirby, age 83, of Rowlett, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2025. Born in Dallas, Texas, on October 4, 1942, he was the beloved son of Vernon Coy and Golda Kirby.
A proud graduate of South Oak Cliff High School, Class of 1960, Larry served his country honorably in the United States Army as a Vietnam Veteran. On October 12, 1963, he married the love of his life, Susan Janet Coyle. Together they celebrated 62 years of devoted marriage.
Following his military service, Larry worked for Western Electric for 16 years before continuing his career with Crouch Excavations. He was a dedicated member of First Christian Church in Rowlett, where seven generations of his family have worshipped. Larry took great pride in supporting the church, including maintaining its grounds for many years.
Larry also served as longtime President and manager of Big A Cemetery in Rowlett, where he will be laid to rest among generations of the Kirby family.
Known for his love of fishing, woodworking, and helping others, Larry shared countless fishing trips to Caddo Lake with his grandsons, teaching them not only how to fish and cook but also how to fix just about anything. His generous spirit and ability to make friends wherever he went left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant triplets, Chad, Coy, and Carrie. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Kirby; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Bryan Blue; and his cherished grandchildren: Brandon and Meaghan Blue, Ryan and Dominique Blue, and Hunter Blue. He also leaves behind great-grandsons David, Jaxson, Brooks, Keagan, and soon-to-arrive Hudson. Larry is also remembered by his extended family, including sisters-in-law Nancy Yarnes, Becky and Mike Buttram, and brother-in-law Billy and Missy Coyle, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 1st at 2:00 PM at First Christian Church, 7301 Miller Road, Rowlett, TX 75088
