Lawrence Carl Bachman's Obituary
Larry Bachman passed in peace, surrounded by his family, May 6, 2015 at the age of 72 after battling a brain tumor for 16 months. He remained a brave, iron-willed man, even throughout his final months. Larry was born in Marshall, MI, to Betty and George Bachman on November 8, 1942. The family later moved to Texarkana where he graduated from Texarkana High in 1960. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Charlotte Marsh Bachman of Farmers Branch, and his step-sons Richard Marsh and Michael Marsh Sr., four grandchildren: Cory Stoll, Jamie Ditti, Mike Marsh Jr, and Ben Marsh, four great grandchildren, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson Jimmy Marsh. His lengthy career in Law Enforcement began when he went to work in Texarkana. When he came to the Dallas area he served in Irving, DFW Airport, and retired from Denton County Sherriff’s Department as Captain of the Communications Center. His career was interrupted for 2 years while he served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. He received the AOCS “Soldier of the Year” in 1967. His education included the Dallas Police Academy in 1965 and in 1976 he received an Associate Degree from El Centro College in Criminal Science and many, many Seminars.. Larry was known by his friends and family to have a great sense of humor, an infectious smile, many hobbies and an infinite love for his wife, his children and his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Larry will be laid to rest at the family plot in Restland Cemetery. The family would especially like to thank all of the friends, neighbors, doctors and hospice nurses who have been so supportive and caring.
