Lawrence Kimbal Simpson's Obituary
Lawrence Kimbal Simpson, age 72, of Rockwall, Texas, passed away on May 1, 2026. He was born on October 19, 1953, in Garland, Texas, to Charlsye and Robert Simpson.
Kimbal grew up in Garland and graduated from South Garland High School. He went on to attend Oklahoma State University, where he played football and maintained a lifelong connection as a member of the Oklahoma State University Foundation. He continued his education and earned his law degree from St. Mary’s University, then dedicated many years to his own law practice.
A man of strong leadership, Kim was an Eagle Scout and remained committed to his community and neighbors throughout his life. He coached youth sports for his son and daughter and served on the board of the Garland Parks Department and was an active member of the Noon Exchange Club of Garland.
Kimbal was known for his dry wit, generous spirit, and steady presence. He found great joy in the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing, and cooking bacon over the campfire. He enjoyed watching football, old westerns, and cheering on his granddaughter at her sporting events.
He is survived by his son, David Simpson, wife Jennifer, and their daughter Madison; and his daughter, Katy Gordon and husband Zach. He was preceded in death by his mother Corky and father Robert and his brother, Lyn.
Service Details: A visitation will be held at Restland on Thursday, May 14 from 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 15th at 2pm in the Restland's Memorial Chapel with a graveside service to follow at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
