So sad to read of Lee Roy passing. He was my first employer, during my junior year at Spruce High School. He was looking for a "stockboy". He tested me. I believe he thought I wouldn't pass the test. He said "If you can lift this 30 pound box & climb the ladder, & put it on the top shelf....the job is yours!"...The rest was history. He asked me to continue to find a strong boy from my school...& hired me as a part time clerk in cosmetics! He was encouraging, positive, & helped me learn a great work ethic. He was by far the most inspirational person in my life. Prayers to his family.

I am saddened to hear of Leeroy’s passing but I am rejoicing that he is in the beautiful presence of our Lord.
I was privileged to be able to work with LeeRoy for 11 years as his Administrative Assistant, at Tom Thumb's headquarter office. Prior to becoming LeeRoy’s Asst., I worked 7 years at a Page Drug Store. Someone encouraged me to interview for the pharmacy admin position when it became available - I did and got the job. I’ll never forget finding out, after I had worked for LeeRoy many months, that many of the other Administrative Assistants, to other people in the office, had bets on how long I would last! Apparently, many other Admins were hired to work for LeeRoy and didn’t stay long - which upon hearing this kind of had me rattled…wondering if he was hard to work with!! They all lost their bets, as I loved working with LeeRoy and loved my job there. My heart goes out to LeeRoy’s wife Pat and his family and please know my family sends our sincerest condolences. I know LeeRoy will be greatly missed by everyone.
