Lillian Cole Evans' Obituary
Lillian Cole Jackson Evans of Richardson was born to Lillian Miles Cole and James Albert Jackson on September 8, 1913, in Powell and passed away on December 18, 2010, at age 97 in Heritage Manor in Plano. She graduated from Powell and Corsicana schools. She was an accomplished violinist who rode the train from Powell to Dallas to play for events and on the radio. She was the orchestra conductor when she attended Abilene Christian College. She met and married her late husband, Wm T ‘Mike’ Evans, of 60 years, while living with her sister in Beaumont in 1940. She was a charter member and played in the first violin section of the Beaumont Symphony Orchestra. Mike was transferred to Richardson by Sun Oil in 1970 where Lillian Cole was active in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League until a couple of years ago. She and her husband were supporters of the orchestra, the Dallas Opera, and other arts. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Albert Jackson, Jr, and her sisters Lois (Mrs H B) Williford and Virginia (Mrs C T) Tindel. She is survived by her daughter, Cole Evans Wright, of Plano and her son, William T (Bill) Evans III, of Plano. She is also survived by grandsons, Robert E Vaughan, and wife, Mary, of Wylie and their daughters, Jenna Janik and husband Ty of Texas City, and Amber Vaughan of Wylie; M Tanner Wright, his wife Jodi, and their son, Morgan Wright of Plano; and Colin H Wright of Galveston. She is also survived by her sister, Jerry (Mrs J T) Gilmore, of McKinney and her brother, Howard Jackson and wife, Joyce, of Powell, and many nieces and nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 8PM Tuesday December 21, 2010 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 10AM on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Restland Wildwood Chapel with interment to follow at DFW National Cemetery. The Reverend Lois Cooper officiating. Pallbearers are: Jeff Tindel, Dan Gilmore, John Jackson, Caleb Jackson, Clay Jackson, and Kit Herrington. Music by Jimmy Gilmore, Elizabeth Beilman, and Jodi Crawford Wright. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
