Church Resolution for Sister Lillian Mary Hutson January 8, 2010 "Guide me Oh Thou GREAT JEHOVAH, Pilgrim through this barren land. I am weak, but THOU are mighty; Hold me with THOU powerful hand." Family, friends, sisters and brothers, GOD has gathered us here in this Holy Sanctuary to celebrate the life of a saint, to be witnesses to her bearing her cross, and to praise HIM for allowing us to be a part of it all. What an auspicious occasion! This is so good that it could have been a formal affair. And if you feel like I feel, you felt like wearing formal wear. But you like me probably thought that to praise GOD like HE deserves to be praised on this day, you had to wear something a little more comfortable. So I decided to wear a suit, some heels, and a "Lillian Mary Hutson" hat. Now when the ministers pray and read the WORD, when the music plays, the choir sings, and the preacher preaches, I can let go of the feeling of loss and remember that GOD has done one more "GOD'S-love-is-so-great-that-we-stand-in-awe-and-wonder" thing in our life time. 89 years, 8 months, and 4 days! Who but the LORD could have granted us the privilege of meeting, and fellowshipping, and sharing, and working, and laughing, and crying, and sharing her wisdom, and growing with our beloved sister. And on today, HE has brought us here to celebrate her life, legacy, faith, and home going! Hellelujah!!! GOD has guided our sister through depressions and World Wars, unprecedented civil rights movements, Jim Crow laws, and who would have thought, a black president. How Great is our GOD. No wonder the song writer penned: "Guide me Oh Thou GREAT JEHOVAH, Pilgrim through this barren land. I am weak, but THOU are mighty; Hold me with THOU powerful hand." HE has held her in HIS bosom and cradled her with HIS gentle love at the death of her beloved husband and son. And HE has saved the better part for now. And now, after 89 years 8 months and 4 days, now she is absent from this pain filled body, she has left this barren land and GOD has gently guided her into the presence of the LORD! How great is our GOD! Sister Lillian Mary Hutson was a devoted member of the West Mt. Horeb Missionary Baptist Church. Since GOD gave her the gift of sewing; she used those skills to bless this congregation and others. She made the Mitchemettes only Choir robes, she made the stoles for the Junior choir's robes, she designed and made the drapes that hung over the baptismal in the former sanctuary, she decorated and cooked and cleaned. Whatever her hands found to do, she did with GOD in mind. She was a charter member of the Golden Girls and she was the mother of this church. We deeply love her with our whole heart and we shall miss her tender spirit, ready smile, and willing hands. Family and friends, of course this is your crying time beloved Aaron, Anita, Itheria, family and friends, we know that letting go of a mother, grandmother, loved one is no easy matter. And we can not tell you how to do it. What we can say is that this is your crying time, do it. West Mount Horeb Missionary Baptist Church understands and we are here to be your shoulders-lean on us, your ears-talk to us, and your feet-send us. We love you with our whole heart and we want to be a blessing to you. Whatever you need, please allow us the opportunity to help you heal. And while you cry, remember that strength comes from the All Loving GOD and HE can not and will not let you suffer alone. There is a balm in Dallas, and HIS name is GOD ALMIGHTY. So we've come here to this holy place to magnify the LORD for HIS love and comfort and to celebrate the life and love of our precious Sister Lillian Mary Hutson. Through your tears, praise GOD for loving our dear Mother Lillian so much that HE would not leave her in that body to continue to suffer and so just a few days ago HE delivered her from it. "Guide me Oh Thou GREAT JEHOVAH, Pilgrim through this barren land. No more pain for our Mother Lillian I am weak, but THOU are mighty; No more suffering for our beloved I am weak, but THOU are mighty; Everyday forever, goodne
