Lillian Mary Hutson's Obituary
It was April 24, 1920 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas when Mrs. Lillian Mary Hutson, one of eight children, was born to the parentage of Henry and Iwiller Walker, a birthday gift to her sister Hazel. Since Lillian was born into, and raised in a Christian Home, she had no choice, except to accept Jesus Christ, as her personal Savior, which she did at a very early age. It was during those early impressionable years that she attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Lillian Mary also known as “Gillie” Walker attended the Booker T. Washington High School in Mt. Pleasant, and was selected President ,as well as the Valedictorian of her class of 1939. After Graduating High School, she married Mr. John Henry Vaughns (Deceased). To this union one child was born, a son, John Paul Vaughns who proceeds her in death. During the 1950’s Lillian moved to Dallas, where she met and married Mr. Futual Hutson. Three more children were added to this union. Aaron, Anita Sandra, and Itheria. Her Family continued the Fellowship of Christ by attending Sunday School and Church at the Munger Avenue Baptist Church, Bethany Baptist Church, North Park Missionary Baptist Church and for the past 32 years, with the West Mt. Horeb Missionary Baptist Church, a fellowship that she truly loved and treasured; first under the leadership of Rev. Malbary Mitchem, and finally under the leadership of Rev. Billy F. Mathews, Sr.. Lillian was selected as the Church Mother by the Senior Women’s Missionary Society under the presidency of Sis. Bertha Burton. She dearly loved her church family, especially the young people, and whatever her hands found to do, you could find her there, doing it, helping every auxiliary in the church. She was a member of the Golden Girls. Lillian Mary Hutson lived her life as an example to her family, following the guidelines of Proverbs 31. She was a true Virtuous woman. Through the years she had many jobs, in many places. During war-time (1940’s) she worked on the Ft. Wachugha military base in Washington State. She was a beautician. She worked at Southern Methodist University, cleaning dorm rooms. She took care of many families in Highland Park and around the Dallas area, being those families baby sitter, cook, and maid, earning an honest living, to help her husband with the family needs. Lillian grew up sewing so, in the mid 60’s she took a job at Quilt Crafters a manufacturer, as a seamstress where she learned a trade that she loved, making interior design items for the home. She took a course and earned a degree in Interior design with the LaSal School of Design. After which she became a small business owner, a woman who worked for herself, naming her business: “Lillian’s Custom Draperies”. In later years she also made custom wedding and attendant gowns. She did many other things as well, but they are just too numerous to mention in this space. Needless to say, she kept herself very busy until she became ill and could no longer work and had to retire, but she didn’t stop being active. She went to church as long as she was able. On Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10:00 p. m. after a long illness. The Lord looked down, and told her to come home. Meeting her in Heaven are numerous family members, and friends including her husband, Futual Hutson, and her son, Paul, her parents, brothers and sisters. They have all gone before her and will be on the “Welcome wagon” to meet her at the gates with Jesus. She leaves to Cherish her memory; her son, Aaron Hutson, and her daughters, Anita Sandra Sample, and Itheria Hutson-Hollins, all of Dallas Texas. Her sister, Hazel Trammell and her sister-in-law, Georgia Walker both residing in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Her nieces; Mary Crawford, Elizabeth Hall, Brenda Walker, Dessie Patterson, Deloris McGrew-Bum Cora Flemmings, Darlene Green, and Sharon Green, Her nephews; Bill Jefferson, Charles Darden, Larry E. She also leaves to mourn, her extended family, the members of the West Mt. Horeb Missionary Baptist Church, the children that are now grown men and women that grew up around her and touched her life on Lockheed Avenue, as well as an additional host of family and friends that she met and truly loved during her years of life. Lillian Mary Hutson, reached out and touched so many lives, and loved so many people; there is just not enough space to list all of the people that she adopted in her heart as her own but, you know who you are, and so do we her family. God Bless you all, until you meet again.
